KTH Royal Institute of Technology visits College Of Energy Engineering, Zhejiang University

Recently, Prof. Urban Westergren, Professor of the Department of Applied Physics at the School of Engineering Sciences and Director of International Relations in Greater China, along with Professor Björn Laumert, Head of the Department of Energy Technology; Ms. Yingfang He, Assistant to the Vice President in Greater China, from KTH

Royal Institute of Technology, visited College Of Energy Engineering(CEE), Zhejiang University.

On October 23, Professor Björn delivered a special lecture titled “Young Faculty Development at KTH: Requirements and Path Towards Full Professor” at the Yuquan Campus for CEE’s young faculty. He outlined the application process and career progression to full professor at KTH, detailing related teaching and research responsibilities. Professor Björn also examined relevant evaluation systems within Sweden’s academic funding framework and, through cross-European comparisons, discussed the institutional environment for faculty development, while sharing perspectives on Swedish life andculture.

On October 24, Professor Björn delivered an academic report titled "Energy Technology Trends in the Age of Artificial Intelligence" to students at Zijingang Campus. Using Sweden as a case study, he highlighted the application of machine learning algorithms in energy big data analysis and system control. He further analyzed the rising electricity demand driven by AI data centers and its subsequent impact on the electricity market. During the Q&A session, students actively engaged with Professor Björn on the role of AI in energy technology education.

On October 29, Professor Urban Westergren conducted an information session on “2025 KTH ‘3+2’ Joint Bachelor’s-Master’s Program”, specifically for undergraduate from the Department of Energy Technology. During the session, students actively engaged with the guests, consulting about topics such as application requirements, curriculum design, further study and career planning after graduation, scholarship opportunities, and much more.
