The 9th International Training Workshop on Waste-to-Energy commenced in Riyadh


On November 10, 2025, the 9th International Training Workshop on Waste-to-Energy commenced in Riyadh. Jointly organized by Zhejiang University and Zhejiang University of Technology, the event was supported by the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), the Global Waste-to-Energy Research and Technology Council (WtERT) , and the International Consultant Committee of Waste to Energy (ICCWtE).

Funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology's Technical Training Program for Developing Countries, this session marks the workshop’s first overseas edition.

This year, the program attracted 105 applicants from 21 countries, with 24 participants selected from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Yemen, Egypt, Morocco, Sudan, Tunisia, India, and Colombia to take part in the 15-day training.

Participants engaged in in-depth exploration of the latest practices in municipal solid waste management in China and Saudi Arabia, waste characterization, treatment technologies, pollutant control, as well as the design and operation of waste incineration plants.
