Recently, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Hydrogen Energy Technical Committee decided to establish a hydrogen pipeline task force, which is convened by Academician Zheng Jinyang, Dean of Hydrogen ZJU,(Zhejiang University Hydrogen EnergyInstitute) aiming to promote technological innovation and international standards related to pure hydrogen and high hydrogen pipelines. The working group is convening experts in the field of hydrogen pipelines around the world and will complete its formation and launch international cooperation as soon as possible.

With the increasing importance of hydrogen energy in the future energy system, hydrogen pipelines have become a key component of countries' hydrogen energy development strategies. A large number of hydrogen pipeline projects will be launched around the world, especially China and North America will be the main markets for long-distance hydrogen transportation. However, due to the characteristics of hydrogen, the safety application of hydrogen pipelines faces many technical difficulties and lack of standards, and the current standards are difficult to meet the demand.
In order to strengthen global exchanges and cooperation and promote the innovation of relevant technologies and standards, Academician Zheng proposed the establishment of a hydrogen pipeline task force at the ISO annual meeting, which was unanimously approved. The international standards to be developed by the working group in the future will be a key reference to promote the production and safe application of hydrogen pipelines around the world.

China is accelerating the construction of a standard system for the hydrogen energy industry, requiring the basic establishment of a standard system to support the development of the whole chain of hydrogen energy by 2025, and encouraging all parties involved in international standardization. In response to the national policy, Hydrogen ZJU has continued to make efforts in leading the construction of the hydrogen energy industry standard system, promoting standard innovation and international cooperation, and cultivating standardization talents, established a standardization innovation research center, and participated in the "Hydrogen Energy Industry Standard System Construction Promotion Work Conference".
In the future, Hydrogen ZJU sincerely invites colleagues from all walks of life to jointly support the construction of China's hydrogen energy industry standard system and deeply participate in the innovation and cooperation of international hydrogen energy standards.
