President Du Jiangfeng met with the U.S. Consul General in Shanghai

On the morning of March 22, President Du Jiangfeng met with Scott Walker, U.S. Consul General in Shanghai, at the Zijingang Campus.


Du Jiangfeng extended a warm welcome to Wang Han and his entourage. He introduced the overall situation of Zhejiang University to the guests, and shared the university's measures and achievements in carbon neutrality research and Sino-foreign cooperation in running schools. He said that Zhejiang University adheres to the concept of openness, hopes to promote two-way exchanges between Chinese and American youth through special programs and activities such as summer scientific research and summer school, and looks forward to strengthening exchanges with the United States on common issues such as climate change and life and health, and exploring effective ways to address global challenges.


Wang Han thanked Zhejiang University for its warm reception. He highly praised the achievements of Zhejiang University and thanked the university for its efforts to promote Sino-US educational cooperation. He said that educational exchanges are of great significance to the development of bilateral relations, and the Consulate General hopes to further attract American students to China for exchange and study. Wang Han also introduced the various people-to-people exchange programs set up by the Consulate General, and welcomed universities to use the project channels to strengthen exchanges with the United States and explore cooperation opportunities. 


During the visit, Wang Han and his entourage also visited the Key Laboratory of Energy Efficient and Clean Utilization at Yuquan Campus to learn about the overall situation and representative research results of the laboratory. 


Yan Jianhua, Vice Chairman of the Development Committee of Zhejiang University, and heads of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and the School of International Education attended the meeting.
