Introduction

The College of Energy Engineering, Zhejiang University, is formerly the Department of Thermophysics Engineering. The Department of Thermophysics Engineering was founded in May 1978, which is the earliest department of engineering thermophysics among Chinese Universities, and is also among China's first batch of engineering thermophysics doctoral disciplines. In 1987, Engineering Thermophysics was approved as state-level key discipline. In 2007, Power Machinery and Engineering Thermophysics was named first-level national key discipline. In September 1989, the Department ofThermophysics Engineering was renamed as the Department of Energy Engineering. In September 1999, the Department of Energy Engineering, and the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and the Department of Engineering Mechanics jointly formed the College of Mechanics and Energy Engineering. In January 2009, The Department of Energy Engineering functioned independently once again on the basis of first-level discipline. In 2014, it was renamed as College of Energy Engineering. In September 2016, the Institute of Process Equipment was merged into College of Energy Engineering.

The current dean is Professor Gao Xiang, who is Chair Professor of Cheung Kong Scholars Program”, Top-grade Expert in Zhejiang Province, and Winner of China National Fund for Distinguished Young Scientists.
